Dr. William Verrillo is dedicated to delivering excellent patient-centered clinical care with warmth and compassion. Dr. Verrillo grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but his family roots are in Savannah, Georgia, on his mother’s side and New England on his father’s. Growing up, he spent summers at his family home on Tybee Island and wanted to return to Georgia after receiving his DDS. His pursuit of clinical excellence began when he was accepted to the Creighton School of Dentistry after just two years of undergraduate study at the University of New Mexico. The acceptance rate for early acceptance was just 0.08%. at Creighton, he went beyond the standard general dentistry education and graduated with advanced standing in endodontics (Root Canals), having been a TA for endodontic labs and completing a record number of root canals using advanced dental microscopes and endodontic techniques. Along with his dedication to endodontics, he pursued advanced training in dental surgery while at Creighton, receiving extensive training in surgical extractions, implant placement, bone grafting and augmentation, and extraction of impacted teeth.
Dr. Verrillo continued his persuit of excellence in implant and restorative dentistry, completing a clinical residency in implant dentistry sponsored by The Advanced Dental Implant Institute and the University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus. In this residency he learned directly under the tutilage of Dr. Hilt Tatum, widely considered the father of modern implant dentistry. During this program he received certification and training in IV Sedation, as well as advanced bone grafting and implant placement techniques. Dr. Verrillo received a Zest mastership in implant denture prosthetics, an advanced soft tissue surgery course certification, and has taken in excess of 500 hours of continuing education in dentistry. He is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), the highest level of CPR.
Dr. Verrillo feels involvement in organized dentistry is important to maintaining knowledge of the latest technology and treatment modalities. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. At Creighton, he was elected to serve as the student representative for the executive dean search committee and was a voting member in selecting the college’s new dean. At the University of New Mexico, he was president of the first undergraduate chapter of the American Association of Public Health Dentists and president of the University of New Mexico Pre-Dental Society.
Dr. Verrillo has an incredible wife, Caitlin, who is a graduate of Mercer University School of Law. On the weekends, he enjoys spending time with her and sailing his Hobie Cat off the back beach of Tybee Island. Sometimes he’s even able to get his wife to go out sailing with him. His other passion is paleontology. He has funded and participated in research expiditions to Paraguay, Nebraska, and Montana supporting projects in association with the University of New Mexico and the National University of Asuncion.
When asked about his practice philosophy Dr. Verrillo replied, “My goal is that you receive clinically excellent care, that you feel welcomed and comfortable, that you leave feeling you were listened to, and that we cared for you compassionately.”
